Background information

Gas-Oil was founded in the Kaliningrad region in 1992 to promote the economic interests of Gazprom, as well as to develop and implement the program of gas and energy development of the Baltic region.

In 1991-1992 Lithuanian and Belarusian enterprises were excluded from the unified gas supply system. New geopolitical conditions appeared, which was caused by the geographical position of the Kaliningrad region.

Such circumstances presupposed the necessary prerequisites for setting up a modern and efficient system of gas supply management.

Having the necessary facilities, recourses and perspective personnel, the company has been successfully implementing the goals of Gazprom. Gas-Oil takes a leading position in the main spheres of its business lines in the Kaliningrad region.

Gas-Oil distributed gas and gas products. It also handled advanced, primary and secondary processing of gas. The company put much effort into elaborating and constructing various gas pipe-lines, gas storage facilities, gas-distribution stations and systems thus carring out Gazprom major social program – “Russian Federation Regional Gasification Program”, which aimed at the gasification of rural areas. Since 2003 approximately 160 kilometre of high and low pressure gas pipe-lines have been laid under this program which would deliver gas to the houses of small neighbourhoods of the regional entities and 27 small towns of the Kaliningrad region.

In 2007 Gas-Oil became a 100 % subsidiary company of Gazprom.

In 2011 Gas-Oil changed its type of ownership for Limited Liability Company.

Managing its major business activities on behalf of Gazprom Gas-Oil feels confident about the future. The new status as well as perspective business lines bound up with LNG technologies open new prospects for the economic prosperity of the company.
